  • Braves trade Christian Pache, Shea Langeliers, Ryan Cusik and Joey Estes for left-handed slugger Matt Olson.

Fantasy Fallout

  • This means Freeeman is going to go elsewhere. Olson gets a slight bump in counting stats while also improving parks. – Ryan V.

  • (Rumor to monitor) Marlins looking for a center fielder as well as a potential closer.

  • (Rumor to monitor) Mets have done background work on potentially trading for Diamondbacks pitcher Luke Weaver.

  • (Rumor to monitor) Discussing a Tyler Mahle trade

  • The New York Mets and Oakland Athletics are in agreement on a trade that would send right-handed starter Chris Bassitt to the Mets
  • Mets sign Adam Ottavino to a 1 year/ $4M deal.

  • Left-handed reliever Brad Hand and the Philadelphia Phillies are in agreement on a one-year, $6 million contract

Fantasy Fallout

  • Ranger Suarez: Will likely fall a few spots in drafts but if you are in on him this might be a buying opportunity. No word on how long this process will take. – Mike K.
  • Kyle Schwarber: The Phillies add another slugger who excels at getting on base. Great landing spot for Schwarber given the lineup and park context. – Jorge M.

Washington Nationals

  • Free-agent reliever Steve Cishek is in agreement with the Nationals on a one-year contract
  • The Nationals sign DH Nelson Cruz to two-year deal
  • Sean Doolittle has reportedly agreed to a deal to return to the Nats

Fantasy Fallout

  • Nelson Cruz: Not the most ideal landing spot unless the Nationals plan to make another splash. It is slightly better for Juan Soto and Josh Bell’s outlooks. Cruz struggled in Tampa Bay, but looks to have something left in the tank. Still an undervalued UT option. – Jorge M.

NL Central

Chicago Cubs

  • (Rumor to monitor) Cubs among favorites to sign Carlos Correa
  • Andrelton Simmons to Cubs. $4M plus incentives.
  • The Cubs signed Japanese star Seiya Suzuki to a five-year, $85 million contract.

Fantasy Fallout

  • Simmons: Not much for offense but playing time and at-bats will be there for deepest of leagues. Unsure how this impacts Madrigal and/or Hoerner but this is a great thing for the starting pitchers. – Mike K.
  • Suzuki: Not the best landing spot for this season given his current surrounding cast, but the fact that he signed with an MLB team at all likely raises is ADP in drafts significantly. Steamer projections: .282/.384/.518 with 26 HR, 77 R, 76 RBI, 6 SB over 525 PA. That’ll play. And give me the over on the playing time. – Jorge M.

  • Reds trade Sonny Gray and Francis Peguero for Twins 2021 first round pick Chase Petty.

Fantasy Fallout

  • Its entirely possible that both Greene and Lodolo now make the rotation with Gray out of town. – Ryan V.
  • Fraley could find himself in the starting lineup on Opening Day, playing one of the corners. Dunn has had some injury issues in the recent past and Williamson remains an intriguing prospect to target in dynasty leagues. – Ryan V

  • VerHagen is reported to be competing for the rotation while having a chance to be a swing-man. Miles Mikolas and Dakota Hudson have had struggles staying healthy, this could just be insurance. – Ryan V.

Fantasy Fallout

  • This will likely lead to Garrett Hampson to a bench/utility role and he’s most affected by this. I was already out on him and this solidifies it. Especially considering the Rockies are not likely done. – Mike K.
  • Colome should enter the closer role for the Rockies. Is he a closer? Yes. Will he get you saves? Yes. Do I want to roster him? I’d rather not. – Mike K.
  • The Rockies gonna Rockie. Bryant is a confusing addition, but one we’ll take from a fantasy prospective. The park is sure to boost his batting average, and a 2019 repeat could be in store — .282/.382/.521 with 31 homers. – Jorge M.

  • (Rumor to monitor) Mark Feinsand of is reporting that the Padres are “heavily shopping” Eric Hosmer and Wil Myers.

San Francisco Giants

  • Carlos Rodon signed 2 years/ 44 M
  • The Giants signed Joc Pederson to a one-year, $6 million deal.

Fantasy Fallout

  • This kicks Sammy Long or Tyler Beede out of the rotation. Though there is an outside chance San Francisco runs a six-man rotation considering how injury prone their rotation as a whole is. – Ryan V.
  • Pederson will rotate between DH and outfield against right-handed starters. A decent late power boost in deep mixed leagues with daily lineup settings. – Jorge M.

American League

Baltimore Orioles

  • RHP Jordan Lyles has officially agreed to a one-year, $5.5M deal with the Orioles
  • Robinson Chirinos has a deal with Orioles 900K plus 75K incentives. 100K if traded
  • Hector Gomez of Z101 Digital reports that Jonathan Villar turned down a $6.5 million contract offer from the Blue Jays.

Fantasy Fallout

  • Outside of the deepest of leagues, Lyles offers little to be excited about. He will give you innings and the fences did move back but outside of AL-Only and draft and hold formats he is a streamer at best. – Mike K.

Fantasy Fallout

  • Will be at the back end and Kikuchi is great for innings and now brings potential to get plenty of wins. Tough division so the ratios could be iffy but overall a net positive Kikuchi and a negative for Ross Stripling and Nate Pearson. – Mike K.
  • A huge upgrade for Chapman going from Oakland to Toronto, where he can walk into 90 runs. Expect to see his draft price increase significantly. Can he tame the strikeout rate? If so, he’s in for a big bounce-back season. – Jorge. M
